Baccarat becoming the game in Macau
The Asian gambling capital Macau is reporting a steep and steady growth in the gambling sector. The 33 casinos that were registered in Macau by the end of 2010 achieved together a 33-percent jump in gambling revenues with baccarat proving to be by far the most popular game. The main casino operator in Macasu is Socieadade de Jogos de Macau; one of the casinos is owned by the Vegas-based Wynn Resorts and MGM Grand Paradise. Lotteries and racing (horses and greyhounds) accounted for just 0.6 percent of the total revenue. Macau is in the focus of wealthy high rollers who also fell in love with baccarat, by the way, the favourite casino game of James Bond.

Daniel Negreanu finishing 9th at the APPT
Daniel Negreanu made another big appearance over the weekend, this time showing up in Sydney for the Asian Pacific Poker Tour event. Finishing only ninth, the game earned him a good prize and was not bad at all, although he wasn’s as lucky as he might have been in the past. His failure to seize the ultimate prize opened a way for a 22-year old Australian player Jonathan Karamalikis who took home $454,304 whilst Negreanu went away with $36,002. No women featured in the final table this time. Karamalikis was seen last year at the WSOP where he finished on the 446th notch.
